Super weird bug that’s been happening. People have been saying this was a bug back in MCC as well. Hope to see it fixed! I always thought the sniper felt a bit weird unscoped on Mouse & Keyboard. Now it seems my suspicions have rung true.

It’s been a long time since I’ve actually cared to flip my mouse over, so is the cross input still causing issues? In this episode of aiming in halo, we go in depth on reticles, and how halo uses auto aim to enlarge the center of the screen. Where other games leave the center of the screen as is, Halo uses a form of aim assist to give the player a larger than usual shape to aim with. Getting shooters to work compentently on console was a chalange, but Bungie prevailed by changing what the game considered to be the screens center.

However, in the modern mcc, the delicate balance between the retricle, the aim assist and the player’s FOV is oftem overlooked. Your reticle is meant to closely corelate to the degree of bullet magnetism of the current weapon. Halo was not designed to support scalable FOV’s.

343’s reticles, are more visable than bungie’s. However, they are less transparent, and can serve to obfuscate targets rather than highlight them.

More importantly, 343 removed Red Reticle for all pc players reguardless of input method. in this video, i explain why red reticle is crucial, as it outlines that the weapons bullet magnetism is still valid at the players current range. By removing this feature for pc players entirely, you leave them stranded without critical info they need to aim properly.

Most puzzlingly, 343 removed Headshot Prioritization, a critical feature introduced in halo 2 to equalize the aim assist around a targets head. This results in uneven gun play as players will experience more aim assist above players than below them.

Many of these changes can be most vicious in campaign where targets have small/narrow heads.
